1. Does the ointment sting?
No. The DR. MAGGIE™ Skin Care Ointment is soothing even to very irritated skin.

2. I have heard that grapes and raisins are bad for dogs and cats. Is there a problem with the grape seed oil in the DR. MAGGIE™ Ointment?
No. Grape seed oil is edible and very healthy for dogs, cats and other pets as well as humans. However, grapes and particularly raisins contain a toxin that can cause kidney failure in dogs and cats. The toxin is thought to be in the pulp of the fruit and not in the seed.

3. Can I use it on sensitive areas, such as the face, and genital area?
Yes. It is safe for all sensitive areas. Eye contact should be avoided.

4. Will it help stop my cat from chewing at her surgical stitches? Is it ok to use it on stitches?
Yes, and yes. It will help alleviate the itching that often accompanies surgical stitches. The taste will also discourage licking and chewing.

5. Will it stain clothing or furniture?
The DR. MAGGIE™ Skin Care Ointment is virtually colourless, however, it can leave a grease mark if rubbed on clothing or upholstery. This is not usually a problem when is applied on the skin, under the fur. Try to avoid getting the product on top of the fur. Also, the product should be applied sparingly. Very little is needed to achieve excellent results.

6. I have heard of neem oil being used as an insect repellent. Will the DR. MAGGIE™ Skin Care Ointment repel insects?
Neem oil has been used for decades in India as repellant for mosquitoes, ticks, flies and other insects. It is not harmful to honey bees or lady bugs. The DR. MAGGIE™ Skin Care Ointment has not been formulated or tested as an insect repellant, however, there is some anecdotal evidence that it may be effective to some degree. Some users have reported that when it was used to treat insect bites, no additional bites occurred. We do not make any claims for this product as an insect repellant.

7. I have been using Polysporin or Hydrocortisone cream for my dog’s hot spots. How is the Dr. Maggie™ Ointment different?

There are various types of Polysporin. The one that is the most like the DR. MAGGIE™ Skin Care Ointment is Polysporin complete with antibiotic and numbing agents. This product will provide some itch relief as well as speed healing and help prevent infection. However pets tend to lick it off as it is tasteless. This alone tends to make it less effective. It may also numb a pet’s lips and tongue causing them to bite them. Hydrocortisone creams contain steroids and are only recommended for limited use. They are also tasteless and may not stay on long enough to work.
The DR. MAGGIE™ Skin Care Ointment is designed for pets and is generally safer and more effective than human products. It is also usually less expensive.
