1.
Which size should I buy? DR.MAGGIE™Skin & Coat comes in 3 sizes:
To ensure freshness and potency, the product is sealed against
air and contaminants at the factory. Once the seal is broken,
the product remains in tact at room temperature for approximately
4 months. Refrigerated, it is fully effective up to 6 months.
To decide which size is most appropriate and economical, we
recommend you select a size that you will use up within approximately
4 months.
E.g.:
1. For a cat or small dog (up to 20lbs.) 375ml will last 2
½ months. This is the recommended size.
2. For a 60-lb. dog, a 1L bottle lasts 2 ½ months.
3. For a 100-lb. dog a 4L bottle will last 5 1/3 months, and
should be refrigerated.
There are very large
economies of scale associated with the larger sizes, if you
need them. Some retailers may not routinely stock the larger
sizes, so if you don’t see the size you want, ask for
it. They can order it for you. The savings are substantial
– well worth the trouble!
2.
I am feeding my pet a quality food. Should I still give DR.MAGGIE™to my pet?
Yes. DR.MAGGIE™Skin &
Coat is formulated and balanced to complement any
diet. A high quality food will provide good basic nutrition,
but many factors can create an EFA deficiency, especially
with dry food. EFA's can be oxidized in processing by high
temperatures, or by long storage. When this happens, EFA's
cannot be utilized by your pet. In addition, commercial pet
foods tend to be lacking in other key nutrients such as the
phosphatides and vitamins provided by DR.MAGGIE™ which are
essential to your pet's optimal health and beauty.
3.
How long will it take before I see results?
It can take up to six weeks to see the full results, although
improvements in scratching, or reduced flaking are usually
noticeable after about one or two weeks. The time will vary
depending on the animal's metabolism. Regular brushing is
necessary to remove old hair and stimulate new hair growth.
If itching persists, stop using the product, and consult your
vet.
4.
Can I overdose my pet?
The ingredients in DR.MAGGIE™Skin
& Coat are all natural to your pet and are not
toxic even if the recommended dose is greatly exceeded by
accident. Research to date has not shown any ill effects from
overdosing other than diarrhea, which is only temporary. DR.MAGGIE™is
safe even when taken with other supplements and special diets.
Read the label for the recommended dosage for your pet. DR.MAGGIE™Skin
& Coat should not be given to animals on blood
thinners, or for one month prior to planned surgery.
If diarrhea occurs at the recommended dose, stop giving the
supplement, and consult your veterinarian, as a pre-existing
condition such as pancreatitis may exist.

5.
Can DR.MAGGIE™
harm my young children if they get into it by accident?
No. If a large amount is ingested, it might cause temporary
diarrhea. The ingredients are all natural, and human quality;
and purity and is guaranteed, so there are no toxic effects.
6.
Does the product spoil?
The vitamin E in DR.MAGGIE™is a natural preservative
which prevents the product from spoiling. However, once opened
it should be used within 3 to 4 months for optimum potency.
Keep it away from heat sources including sunlight, as heat
will destroy fragile nutrients. Refrigeration will extend
freshness, but is not necessary within these guidelines.
7.
How long can I keep my pet on DR.MAGGIE™Skin & Coat?
Indefinitely!
8.
What if my pet doesn’t like the taste?
Most dogs and cats love DR.MAGGIE's™ roast chicken flavour
and will eat it directly from a spoon or saucer. It can also
be mixed with wet or dry food. However some animals may need
to get used to a new taste. They will get to like it if you
give it a chance. The “roast chicken” flavour
is actually mostly sesame seed oil. This flavour is used in
human food with chicken gravy and soups. It is a much healthier
alternative to chicken fat.
9.
Is DR.MAGGIE™safe for pregnant
and lactating females? For puppies and kittens?
As lactation requires energy, lactating bitches and queens
will often have poor skin and coat condition. This is a particularly
good time to supplement them because puppies and kittens are
their priority and the nutrients in their food will first
be allocated to them. DR.MAGGIE™also benefits growing puppies
and kittens, and can be given as soon as they are weaned.
10.
Why is DR.MAGGIE™Skin & Coat
better for my pet than other EFA supplements?
DR.MAGGIE's™ unique formula is
based on the latest research and contains nutrients that are
missing in other supplements – nutrients that dogs and
cats require to metabolize EFA’s. This is why DR.MAGGIE™Skin
& Coat is the most effective product you can
buy for shedding, dry, flaky skin, and prevention of allergies
and hot spots. Also, the amount, and the ratio of Omega fatty
acids in DR.MAGGIE™is more beneficial
to cats and dogs than in other supplements. DR.MAGGIE™is
also much more effective for skin and coat, and overall health
than processed foods containing EFA’s because these
foods generally contain insufficient amounts of these nutrients.
Check the labels and compare them for yourself.

11.
Can DR.MAGGIE™Skin
& Coat do anything for my dog’s arthritis?
The EFA’s in DR.MAGGIE™
have a natural mild anti-inflammatory effect which is compatible
with the treatment of arthritis, but your dog may require
other medications for pain relief, inflammation, and to rebuild
worn cartilage. We recommend DR.MAGGIE™Extra
Strength Joint Formula for the treatment and prevention
of osteo-arthritis. It can be given with .
Studies indicate that omega fatty acids decrease levels of
leukotriene B4 in joint fluid, making it a valuable adjunct
in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Preliminary studies
in dogs indicate that similar benefits are possible in cases
of hip dysplasia. As in the case of osteo-arthritis, consult
your vet for a correct diagnosis and the best regimen of care
for your pet.
12.
What else can DR.MAGGIE™
do that EFA’s alone cannot?
In addition to more effective utilization of fatty acids,
the special ingredients in DR.MAGGIE™
are also important in liver, brain and nervous system function,
digestion and regulating fat metabolism. DR.MAGGIE™is rich
in the chief phospholipid found in bile and is important in
keeping the bile in solution, preventing its precipitating
out in the form of gallstones. It is also found naturally
in the myelin sheath, a protective conductive covering of
the nerves. It is high in phosphorus and unites with iron,
iodine and calcium to give power and vigor to the brain. Phosphatides
are essential in the regeneration of new tissue, including
skin and coat.
Phosphatidyl choline is crucial in the maintenance of membrane
fluidity, a key to normal healthy working of cells. It has
been found beneficial in a number of neurological conditions
and in the repair of cell membranes, particularly in the liver.
In numerous human and animal studies the phosphatides used
in Dr. Maggie have been found useful in the following conditions:
memory improvement, relief of manic symptoms, and reversal
of liver damage.
13.
If DR.MAGGIE™
is a better product, with more key nutrients than other products,
why is it so much less expensive than other supplements?
DR.MAGGIE™Skin & Coat is manufactured in Canada. Its
raw materials are purchased from Canadian sources. Therefore
it has a substantial cost advantage over competitive products
manufactured in the US due to the lower Canadian dollar. Animal
Health Laboratories Ltd., the makers of DR.MAGGIE™Skin & Coat, do the research and product development, manufacturing
and packaging in-house to avoid unnecessary mark-up costs.
Animal Health has a policy of "value pricing" rather
than charging "what the market will bear". This
policy means that these savings are passed on to our customers.
14.
What are the terms of the money back guarantee?
There is no risk in trying DR.MAGGIE™Skin & Coat. If
you are not satisfied with the product for any reason, simply
return the unused portion, along with your proof of purchase
for a full refund. Your store may also have an exchange or
credit policy.
Note to Retailers:
Animal Health Laboratories will replace or credit you for
any returned product. If the product is returned to us we
will perform a quality check.

15.
My vet is recommending steroids for my dog's severe itching
and inflamed skin. Can DR.MAGGIE™Skin
& Coat help?
Before you resort to steroids we strongly recommend that you
try DR.MAGGIE™Skin & Coat. With prolonged use, steroids
have serious side affects and can damage your dog's liver,
kidneys and heart. They are sometimes prescribed as a last
resort when other diets and skin treatments fail. However,
several of our test animals who were considered for steroid
treatment, improved dramatically on DR.MAGGIE™Skin & Coat without steroids. In addition, it has none of the side
effects of steroids, and will provide natural beneficial nutrition.
16.
My dog has thyroid problems and a dry itchy coat. Can she
take DR.MAGGIE™?
Yes. DR.MAGGIE’s™ all natural ingredients will not interact
with other medications. Skin and coat problems often occur
with thyroid dysfunction, and will help in most
of these cases.
17.
Does DR.MAGGIE™ prevent hairballs
in cats?
Yes. Once your cat has been taking it for a few weeks she
will be ingesting less hair because of reduced shedding. In
addition, the oils in DR.MAGGIE™
Skin & Coat act as a lubricant to ease
the elimination of hair. You do not need to give your cat
any other hair ball medication.
18.
My Labrador retriever gained 10 lb. while taking (another
supplement). Will DR.MAGGIE™
contribute to weight gain?
No. DR.MAGGIE™
is formulated with lecithin, which aids in fat metabolization,
and so it will not promote weight gain. We included lecithin
primarily because pets need it to properly metabolize EFA’s,
making DR.MAGGIE™
more effective than other supplements. However, it also will
aid in burning the other fats in your pet’s diet. So
not only will it not promote weight gain, it may help with
weight loss in obese pets (not pets of normal weight).
Furthermore, because of the high quality ingredients used
in DR.MAGGIE™
compared to the supplement your Labrador was taking, he was
ingesting 3 times the calories he would need with DR.MAGGIE™
Skin & Coat. DR.MAGGIE™
is formulated to deliver the maximum nutritional
benefits for the least amount of calories - and cost. Always
check the dose when comparing ingredients and prices.
19.
I have heard that soy, the main ingredient in DR.MAGGIE™
Skin & Coat is bad for dogs? Is this true?
Soy meal, which is sometimes used as a protein source in pet
foods should be avoided. It can cause digestive upset in some
pets. However, the soy oil used in DR.MAGGIE™
Skin & Coat has no soy or other protein.
It is an excellent source of source of the EFA’s which
are crucial to your pet’s health and appearance.
